Biography
Kathryn Martinez was born and raised in Salt Lake City. She developed a passion for painting in high school and went on to study at the University of Utah. After graduating with a BFA in 2012, she moved to Helper to continue her education with David Dornan, Paul Davis, and Ben Steele.
Artist Statement
“My focus as a painter is the observation of familiar and forgotten objects. I enjoy studying the relationships of color, light and shadow created between a variety of objects. I strive to capture those relationships realistically through a build up of thin layers of paint and transparent glazes.”
